Customers can choose whether they would like to cook their own meal by using a portable BBQ stove or just freshly cooked food selected from the menu displayed.

The design was developed to compliment the base build architecture design, with the introduction of modern Japanese design elements. The colour palette took inspiration from Katsubi’s branding – red and black but also incorporating alight timber finish to soften this scheme.

Timber vertical slats were used on the joinery of the counter and adjacent walls at different scales. Linear glazed black tiles clad the majority of the walls in the front of house area and restrooms, and a black metal ceiling grid was suspended integrating task and decorative lighting as well as hanging plants. The upholstered banquette seating incorporated a feature strap detail with a bold Asian inspired graphic wallpaper on the wall above.
